A LEOPARD RESCUED FROM HUMAN POPULATION

A leopard cub spotted into human population in the search of prey, by mistake cub entered in the human population near Ghurepurwa village of Sujulii beat of Nishatgahara range of Katerniaghat Wild Life Sanctuary .The incident occurred on 22 Feb. 2010 when a eight month male leopard entered into human population and taken a shelter into the hut near by the jungle which belong to Nishanghara range. the area comes under dense human population .When the cub was spotted in the house , master of the house immediately informed the WWF field office Katerniaghat .Dabeer hasan with forest personnel and other civic authority rushed immediately on the spot . There was an anger crowed gathered out of the house when project officer seen this he started talking to them but he was unable to explain to them soon he realize this and called the police force from sujulii and Murthia Thana .As early as police force reached at the area they covered and captured the whole periphery where the cub was seen. Timely police force controlled the crowed and started helping forest officer and other person who were involve in rescue operation. Another trained rescue team reached from Dudwa National Park. There were three doctors panel and other trained forest personnel with tranquilization apparatus they shot tranquilization gun to control the animal soon they success in their operation and cub become unconscious Dr. Ashraf lapped the cub and bring him out of the house .Suddenly he was kept under the cage. Dabeer hasan said they faced lot of difficulties because of the commotion caused by the residents as they ran helter-skelter along with the leopard after over six-hour struggle, project officer said, easier to trap the leopard by the help of WTI authority who have come from Dudwa National Park. The whole operation could not success without the help of police force. One thing is also note able that villagers who assisted in the operation were beneficiary of the LPG gas cylinder provided by WWF. So an corporate social responsibility played a major role in this rescue operation .Beside this Police have played an important role by the help of coordination of WWF officer .Unfortunately this operation not become beneficial for forest because this eight year old cub was located at kanpur zoo .sending carnivorous at kanpur zoo is not perfect decision made by forest officers .any way biut it is good step to save these endangered species.
